Nothing will happen if you don't choose a secondary profession -- although IMHO you'll be gimping your character.
Good Warriors can become truely great by using their secondary class. |

You have to, it's not an option.

I forgot to add before, that you cannot advance in the game without a secondary profession. |

Tydus won't let you go post without it... because the option to "leave it all behind" doesn't come up till you have taken a second profession.

I don't think you can head into post-searing without a secondary profession.
Changing your secondary profession is later on in the game. I'm not gonna tell when in case I reveal some spoilers for others. |

******************************
SPOILER ALERT for unascended people!! ****************************** There did the best I could. You can change your secondary profession only after you ascend. To ascend, you will have to complete the three Crystal Desert missions (i.e. Elona Reach, Dunes of Despair, and Thirsty River). After you complete the missions, talk to Great Ritual Priest Zahmut at Augury Rock and say something about the mesa and accept. Follow the steps and kill your dopple. After that, head to any of the three different outposts in the Desert (Heroes' Audience, Destiny's Gorge, or Seeker's Passage) depending on what you want to change your profession to. I can't remember which outpost holds which. The quest will be called "The xxx Path" where xxx is a profession name. After you do the quest, when you collect your reward, you will be asked if you want to change your second profession. You will lose all your skills from the previous profession, but will be there when you change back. I think that's all there is to it. |
